For those of you who know me well, you know that chips and salsa is hands-down my favorite thing to eat. Recently, I discovered that this delicious combination can be improved by making your own tortilla chips. It is super easy, and they are a little bit better for you than the pre-packaged, fried varieties you get at the store. To make them, simply buy a package of corn tortillas at the store and cut them into quarters.
Since I have a strange obsession with Halloween, I opted to make my chips into Halloween shapes rather than simply cutting the tortillas into quarters. If you want to make fun shapes, simply use a cookie cutter.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or grease the pan. I like the Pam spray, personally. I usually line the sheet with parchment paper and spray with Pam. A little overkill, I suppose. Lay the chips out in a single layer. Pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees. Spray the tops of the chips with the Pam spray and sprinkle with salt. I also like to sprinkle a little lime juice on them. Bake them for about 10 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
Serve with salsa, French onion dip, or a spot of “spooky” green guacamole!
