Beer-Battered Fried Pickles with Ranch Dressing
Fried pickles are one of my favorite treats, and they are the perfect snack for a lazy Saturday night. When I was in college, I tried them for the first time at a little microbrewery in the town where I went to college. They were amazing! I’ve since tried fried pickles at various other restaurants, but none can compare to the ones at Cornerstone. So, I decided to try making them myself. I used this recipe, but I omitted the cayenne pepper, and I added some other seasonings like garlic powder and a pinch of truffle salt. If I had fried them long enough, they would’ve been crunchy on the outside, and warm and salty on the inside. Unfortunately, I’ve never had a good deep-frying experience, and this was no exception. I didn’t leave them in the oil long enough, so they turned out a little bit soggy and doughy. Nevertheless, they were still pretty tasty!
I can’t wait to try this variation next.
*EDIT 10/1/12: I have since tried this second variation, and it is so much better. I’ll do a full post on it soon!
