Last Sunday, I got the opportunity to attend the Fashion Goes Pink charity fashion show here in Cleveland. The show included the designs of seven local designers, and the proceeds were donated to Susan G. Komen for breast cancer research, prevention, and treatment. I was so excited to be able to take part in this event, particularly because breast cancer has had a very direct impact on my life.

When I was five years old, my mother lost her battle with breast cancer, in part due to late detection. Now, even with the technological advances of the past two decades, we still know that early detection is one of the best defenses against the disease. At the show, a Susan G. Komen representative addressed the audience and spoke about the importance of annual check-ups so you have better odds of catching the disease in its early stages. She also told us that most of the proceeds from the evening would help underinsured women in our area get mammograms and treatment. It was a truly wonderful and emotional experience to see so many people from our community coming together for such a great cause.

Congratulations to the Fashion Goes Pink team for hosting a great event!

DESIGNER #5: ANTON ZBARZH
DESIGNER #6: DIVINE IDEAS
DESIGNER #7: D. HAYES
D. Hayes designed some of the most beautiful dresses I have ever seen. The colors were strikingly bold, the silhouettes were very modern and feminine, and the styling was impeccable.  I literally got goosebumps during his show. D. has some serious talent.
This last dress was my absolute favorite design in the entire show. I love the juxtaposition of the sweatshirt-like top with the elegant ballgown-style skirt. It is simply stunning. I wish I could wear this every day. I need somebody to invite me to a really fancy party so I can buy and wear this dress. I really  love it! After the show, I tried unsuccessfully to find the model so I could get a better/closer picture (and maybe steal the dress right off of her back).
Well played, D. Hayes.
Thank you so much to the Fashion Goes Pink team for letting me come spend the day with you!
