The Perfect Nude Lipstick

We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.

Lately, I’ve been on a mission to overcome my fear of wearing lipstick. Sure, I’ll put it on for blog photos with the intention of wearing it all day….but then I always end up wiping it off. This ordinarily wouldn’t be a problem, except that I own an obscene amount of lipstick, and, as a fashion and beauty blogger, I feel like it is totally unacceptable to be afraid of lipstick.

So, my journey began with me ransacking my lipstick collection to find a nude or light pink color. I thought it would be easier to start with something subtle and demure and work my way up to the bold reds and neon fuschias.
Then, I stumbled upon my NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Stockholm that I bought from Ulta a while ago. This product is really interesting. It goes on like a lip gloss, but it is an opaque formula with rich pigments. It takes a few minutes to dry, but when it does, it is perfectly matte. I wore it every day last week, and I have to say, I am totally hooked! I love the cream formula and the matte texture. Matte lipsticks have a tendency to make my lips look dried up like raisins, so I slather on a thick coat of lip balm before applying the matte cream.

The Stockhom color is seriously the perfect nude. It is subtle, but has just a hint of pink to it, which I think complements my skintone much better than would a lipstick that appeared more like concealer on my lips. Best of all, it’s only $6, and it seems as though Ulta always has it on sale for even cheaper.

Overall, I am in love with this product, and I can’t wait to try out more colors. I also have the Soft Matte Lip Cream in Antwerp (a coral color) and Amsterdam (bold, classic red), so more on those once I work my way up to less neutral colors. Baby steps!

Hey. I found you via the Lucky community thing, and really like your blog. I too have been trying to find the perfect nude lipstick/gloss. I’ve tried heaps of them, but they all either make me look chalky or dead or off somehow. We have an Ulta opening here soon so I’ll have to go try this one out! Thank you for the suggestion.
