It only seemed fitting that my first outfit post of 2014 include some of my new favorite things. The Sole Society booties and the Kate Spade purse were both Christmas gifts from my in-laws. I’ve been wanting to add more green to my wardrobe, and I think a purse is the perfect way to incorporate that splash of color in a way that will still mesh really well with the rest of your existing wardrobe. I’ve been carrying it nonstop since Christmas. The Sole Society boots have also been in heavy rotation. The closed-toe and higher shaft keep my feet nice and warm, making these boots a chic alternative to clunky snow boots. I only wish I had them in more colors
As for the Zara blanket scarf, that was a post-wisdom teeth surgery e-retail therapy purchase on my part. When it first arrived, I was unsure whether or not to keep it because it was just so big. I felt like it was really overwhelming on my shorter frame, but ultimately I kept it because it is insanely soft and the colors are great. I figured, if nothing else, I could at least use it as a throw blanket. I’m so glad I kept it because I’ve been wearing it nearly every day. I’m even wearing it now even though I’m indoors because it. is. freezing. I know it’s super lame to talk about the weather all the time, but the actual temperature is supposed to be -8 by the time Cory gets home from work tonight.  On the weather report this morning they said the wind chill could reach -40 tonight. Negative FORTY. That is SO cold!! Even after living in Ohio for 7 years, I still find myself shocked by the winter weather we can get up here.
As for my awkward ankle boot/jeans tuck: I don’t have much experience wearing ankle boots, so I’m still kind of unsure what to do with my jeans…I tried tucking them, but they wouldn’t stay. I tried cuffing them like a lot of bloggers do, but I think that looks awkward on me. I have one more thing I want to try, and I’ll keep you posted in case you have the same awkward ankle bootie problem.
Thanks for reading! Have a nice Monday, and stay warm!

I think the cuffed jeans look totally fine. I thought it felt weird cuffing them over ankle boots too the first time I did it but quickly got used to it and loved how effortless it looks. Glad you kept the scarf, that’s one of my favorite plaid color combos! You will probably get a lot of wear out of it for years to come. Stay warm!

(sorry for the delete…posted under the wrong account)

So cute and love the neutrals with the plaid and the pop of green from the purse! The only trick I have with the ankle boots is to pull my jeans over the top of the foot opening. My jeans usually have spandex/stretch in them, so it works?
