Piol Dress c/o / Karen Walker Sunglasses / Loren Hope Bracelets (crystal cuff, purple cuff, crystal bracelet) / Thrifted Clutch / BCBGeneration Heels (similar) / MAC Lipstick in Rebel

I’m back! I never really intended to take a 1.5 month break from blogging, but my day job has been keeping me pretty busy (in super boring outfits), so my long break just sort of happened. I’ve been getting more creative with my work outfits though, trying to find ways to dress professionally, but still incorporating feminine pieces and other things that really reflect my personal style. I was really excited when Piol offered to send me a custom-made dress that I could design- how fun is that!?

A bit of background information: All of Piol’s dresses are cut and sewn in New York’s Garment District using high quality materials from Italy, Japan, and France.

Once you get to the Piol website, you answer a few questions- hair color, eye color, skin tone. The website uses this info to choose the most flattering colors for you. You get a custom color palette of 4 colors that will look the best on you, then you get to choose a fabric in one of those colors. There are so many different fabrics to choose from- both solids and fun prints. It was hard to choose just one!

Then you get to pick the silhouette of your dress- tailored, sheath, shift, draped, or draped empire. You can customize the dress by choosing the neckline, skirt length/shape, and sleeve type/length. The site explains what body type will look best in each neckline/skirt/sleeve. For example, a short straight skirt will accent straight hips, while a mid pleated a-line skirt will accent narrow hips.

My design: a sheath dress, a shorter a-line skirt, a mid v-neck, with 3/4 sleeves in a powder blue matte stretch fabric. There were so many fun silhouettes to choose from, but I opted for something I could wear to work/court.

Once you’ve designed your dress, you enter in your measurements to ensure a perfect fit. In 3-4 weeks, your custom dress will arrive in your mailbox. I will warn you, the dresses aren’t cheap. They are definitely an investment, but I think it’s worth it. You get a high quality dress of your own design that will fit you better than anything else in your closet. I wanted a high quality, perfectly tailored, work-appropriate (but still pretty) dress, and that’s exactly what I got. This is by far my favorite dress I own. I already have about 6 other outfits planned around it! Thank you so much to Piol for my incredible dress. I will definitely be back for another!
