My Skincare Routine

We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.

I love reading or hearing about other people’s skincare/hair care/beauty routines because they almost always introduce me to an incredible product I had never heard about, so I thought I’d share my skincare regimen with you today. Over the past 8 months or so, I’ve pretty much turned my skincare routine upside down and started using all new things, as my skin made a weird and sudden change from being very dry to having a crazy oily t-zone with dry skin every where else. (Awesome!) I finally feel like I’ve settled into a routine with products that are effective and that I enjoy using and will likely repurchase.

Evening

First, I use these wipes to remove all of my makeup. I’ve tried several different types/brands, but these are my favorite. If my skin is really dry or irritated, instead of using the wipes, I will use this cleansing oil to take off my makeup. It’s a bit gentler on my skin than the wipes. It’s also very convenient because it doesn’t require any rinsing even though it feels and works like a traditional cleanser (i.e. no additional cleansing required).

If I use the wipes instead of the cleansing oil, my next step is washing with this cleansing tool and either this cleanser by Herbivore or one of the many samples I’ve gotten in subscription boxes. I love this cleansing tool. It cleanses my face just as well as my Clarisonic, but it is much gentler on my skin. It’s also much easier to clean than my Clarisonic (no replacement brush heads!), so I feel like it’s more hygienic and just overall better for my skin. I actually think I’ll be retiring my Clarisonic for good.

After cleansing, I pat my skin dry and spritz it with this spray toner by Caudalie. I love the way it smells- it has a nice earthy scent with maybe a hint of tea tree? I’m not really sure how to describe it, but I love it! The scent dissipates pretty quickly though, so if you hate the smell, it shouldn’t be much of a problem.

After letting that dry, I spritz my face with a moisturizing mist. This one is my favorite but it’s a little expensive. I also like this one and this rose-scented one (it smells amazing!). I re-apply the mist as need throughout the day.

While my face is still damp from the spray, I apply this Herbivore facial oil for combination skin. It is so luxurious! It feel so nice on my skin and smells like chamomile to me, so I find it very relaxing when I apply it before bed. I use my cleansing tool to help the oil sink into my skin. The oil is pretty expensive, but I think it is absolutely worth it if you have problematic skin. It moisturizes my skin without causing breakouts and has balanced out the oily parts of my skin to make them less of an issue. It also helps reduce redness. It’s a must-have product for me! I also love that all Herbivore products are made with natural, organic and food-grade ingredients, so they are free of toxic chemicals and additives. I’m trying to be more conscious about using natural, chemical-free products, but previous natural and/or organic skincare products I’ve used were totally ineffective. Fortunately, the Herbivore products I’ve been using are giving me great results. I’m dying to try this one after reading about how much Grace loves it.

If my skin is feeling extra dry, I will follow up the facial oil with this moisturizing mask, which I leave on overnight.

Morning

In the mornings, I either rinse my face with cool water or use one of these wipes. I find both to be very refreshing first thing in the morning. Then I spritz on this toner or a moisture spray. While my skin is still damp, I apply this moisturizer and let it sink in for a few minutes before applying this pore & shine minimizer.

Weekly

Depending on what my skin needs, I use a treatment mask or tool 2-3x a week- I alternate between this Herbivore mask for exfoliation, my PMD for a super exfoliating treatment, this self-heating clearing mask and this mask. Twice a week, I use this Paula’s Choice product on the more blemish-prone areas of my face. It’s very effective, so much so that I can’t use it the recommended 1-2x per day or my skin freaks out- remember, skincare is all about balance! Once a week, I use these pore strips on my nose. I use this as a spot treatment whenever blemishes pop up- it’s only $2 and smells really nice.

I also take this supplement every day. It’s supposed to help detox your body from the inside out to help reduce blemishes. Since I started taking it, my skin has been remarkably clearer.
