Special Reminders with Jord Wood Watches

In our family, watches have become synonymous with special occasions. For Cory’s college graduation, his parents bought him a watch. For our wedding, all of the groomsmen got together and bought Cory another gorgeous watch. At first, it was just a joke in our family that Cory loved watches. I quickly found out his obsession with watches had a much deeper meaning.

When I passed the bar exam, Cory gave me a watch. When I opened it, he said, “Every time I look at my watch to check the time, I’m reminded of a special time in my life, like graduating college or our wedding day. Now, whenever you check the time, you’ll have a reminder of this day and everything you’ve accomplished.” I was blown away by his thoughtfulness.

Now, whenever I look at that watch, I am reminded of passing the bar exam and the most thoughtful gift I’ve ever been given. I’m also reminded to pause for a second and think about everything I have to be thankful for. It’s a great reminder to not get too swept up in the little stresses of the day.

My new Jord wood watch came at another special time in my life. First, I just started a new job. But I think the most exciting thing is that we just booked the trip I’ve been dying to make since high school…we’re going to Paris!

I’m not sure that I’ve mentioned it before, but I actually majored in French in college. We had a trip booked to spend New Years in Paris a few years ago, but we ended up having to cancel the trip. I was devastated. The Expedia customer service agent was so kind to me when I called to cancel, probably because I was crying so hard. Ha!

But now we’re really going! I am more than a little rusty with my French speaking skills. I’m also a little overwhelmed (in the best way possible) with all the planning of little details (what do we need to do so we have smartphone access while we’re there? A girl needs to Instagram!), but I am so excited for this adventure. Now, every time I wear my Jord watch, I’ll be reminded of the day my Paris dreams came true.

The Best Sweater Ever Made

Leith Sweater (last seen here)/ Jeans (old, similar) / Chloe Lauren Heels / Chloe Marcie Bag / Valentino Glasses / Bite Lipstick in Glace c/o Influenster

This outfit is made up of lots of “bests.” This is the best sweater I’ve ever owned, these heels are the most comfortable heels I’ve ever worn, this bag is one of my absolute favorites, and this lip color is my #1 pick for fall.

Seriously, this sweater is everything. You HAVE to get it! It’s super soft and cozy with a slightly oversized fit and bell sleeves (my current favorite trend), the quality is good (no pilling!!), and it’s under $100. It comes in 3 colors…I have it in 2 of them! It does run a bit large, so I recommend getting a size smaller than usual.

Also, these heels are my favorite. Y’all know I love my Rockstuds, but they are not very comfortable (read: torture) and I think they are way too flashy to wear to work. This Chloe pair, on the other hand, is super comfortable. The scalloped detailing adds interest, but the pumps are understated enough that they are suitable for wearing to work. I actually scored these on eBay for a fraction of the retail price, but I would gladly pay retail for them. I’d love to try a pair of the flats next.

Irresistible Me: Affordable Clip-In Real Hair Extensions

Guys, I am so excited to share this post with you today. I have finally entered the world of clip-in hair extensions, and they are everything. You clip them in, style them, and -BAM!- instant supermodel hair. They make me feel so glamorous! I seriously wish I had tried them sooner haha.

I’ve been interested in trying them for a couple of years now. So many bloggers seem to wear them, and they make their hair look beautiful. But every time I looked into getting some, I could not believe how expensive they were. Like, $300+ for some hair glued to a clip?! No, thanks!

Enter Irresistible Me. They offer high quality, real hair extensions at much more reasonable prices. You can customize your extensions not only by color (obviously), but also by length and thickness. When they sent me a set of extensions to try, I was so excited to find that the prices were reasonable and the quality was good. Finally, my search for nice, affordable hair extensions was successful!

I opted for the Silky Touch 100% real hair extensions in light brown, 22″ long, 200 grams. The Silky Touch line includes a full head set of clip-ins that are thickest at the root and taper ever so slightly towards the ends for a more natural look. This set comes with so many different clips in different sizes that it is more than enough for your whole head. In these pictures, I’m only wearing about 2/3 of the set. The extensions can be heat styled, washed as needed, cut to better blend in with your natural hair, and even dyed to match your natural color more closely. I didn’t dye these at all; they were a pretty perfect match to my hair color right out of the package.

Color Tip: If you feel like there isn’t a color that’s a perfect match, or if you know you plan to dye the extensions, order them a shade lighter. It’s much easier to darken hair that’s too light than it is to lighten hair that’s too dark!

If you are interested in ordering any extensions and need help picking a color, length, or thickness, feel free to email me ( or contact Irresistible Me customer service for help. It took me over a week to decide what to get because I took the decision very seriously. #priorities

Thank you so much to Irresistible Me for my amazing extensions and for creating a quality product that won’t completely break the bank!

Pop of Purple

Shirt / Denim / Watch / Sunglasses / Bag / Shoes / Curling Wand

I wore this simple outfit a couple of weeks ago when my friend Ali and I attended the Fount Leather trunk show and studio tour. The studio is in this amazing old factory building right in the middle of downtown Cleveland. They have one of those old-fashioned crank elevators to take you up to the studio, and the view from the top is pretty amazing. More on the studio tour as soon as I finish sorting through all the pictures I took while we there.

I’m trying to get back into the routine of posting more regularly here, but that means I need more content…so tell me, what would like to see on Sugar and Chiffon? Any burning style/beauty/lifestyle questions? Leave a note in the comments or shoot me an email at

Jewel Tones

Shirt: J.Crew Factory / Vest: J.Crew / Shoes: Yosi Samra / Sunglasses: Ray-Ban / Bag: 3.1 Phillip Lim c/o Shopbop / Watch: Michael Kors / Bracelet: Loren Hope / Nails: Sephora by Opi Havana Dreams

My new-ish orchid Pashli Satchel has inspired me to play around with color more than usual. I’ve always loved jewel tones like the ones in this shirt, but my super bright handbag has helped me step out of my comfort zone to mix colors and prints to a point that I would usually consider “too much” for my pretty classic style.

These Yosi Samra flats are my first pair of YS shoes, and they are worth every. single. penny. They are so comfortable (I didn’t even have to break them in!), they are foldable, and they come with a little pouch so you can toss them in your handbag without getting gross street debris all over your belongings. I love this white pair and this leopard pair, and hope to add them to my shoe collection soon!

The No-Brainer Winter Work Outfit

Topshop Sweater / J.Crew Factory Chambray (old, long-sleeve version) / Loft Skirt (similar on sale, plus an extra 60% off!) / BCBGeneration Heels / Michael Kors Watch / MAC Lipstick in Rebel / Thrifted Clutch / Sunset 45 Necklace c/o

I have been wearing this Topshop sweater at least once a week since I got it. It’s definitely not the most flattering thing I own, but it is absolutely the softest. It’s so cozy and comfy. Since jeans aren’t really appropriate for most of my work days (if only), I’ve been stepping up my skirt and dress game. Pairing a fitted pencil skirt with a chunky sweater has sort of become my default outfit. I’ve stocked up on lots of neutral sweaters so I can throw one on with pretty much any color skirt. It’s the perfect, easy option for early Monday mornings when I’m still too sleepy to put any thought into my outfit…or anything else for that matter.

Piol Dress c/o / Karen Walker Sunglasses / Loren Hope Bracelets (crystal cuff, purple cuff, crystal bracelet) / Thrifted Clutch / BCBGeneration Heels (similar) / MAC Lipstick in Rebel

I’m back! I never really intended to take a 1.5 month break from blogging, but my day job has been keeping me pretty busy (in super boring outfits), so my long break just sort of happened. I’ve been getting more creative with my work outfits though, trying to find ways to dress professionally, but still incorporating feminine pieces and other things that really reflect my personal style. I was really excited when Piol offered to send me a custom-made dress that I could design- how fun is that!?

A bit of background information: All of Piol’s dresses are cut and sewn in New York’s Garment District using high quality materials from Italy, Japan, and France.

Once you get to the Piol website, you answer a few questions- hair color, eye color, skin tone. The website uses this info to choose the most flattering colors for you. You get a custom color palette of 4 colors that will look the best on you, then you get to choose a fabric in one of those colors. There are so many different fabrics to choose from- both solids and fun prints. It was hard to choose just one!

Then you get to pick the silhouette of your dress- tailored, sheath, shift, draped, or draped empire. You can customize the dress by choosing the neckline, skirt length/shape, and sleeve type/length. The site explains what body type will look best in each neckline/skirt/sleeve. For example, a short straight skirt will accent straight hips, while a mid pleated a-line skirt will accent narrow hips.

My design: a sheath dress, a shorter a-line skirt, a mid v-neck, with 3/4 sleeves in a powder blue matte stretch fabric. There were so many fun silhouettes to choose from, but I opted for something I could wear to work/court.

Once you’ve designed your dress, you enter in your measurements to ensure a perfect fit. In 3-4 weeks, your custom dress will arrive in your mailbox. I will warn you, the dresses aren’t cheap. They are definitely an investment, but I think it’s worth it. You get a high quality dress of your own design that will fit you better than anything else in your closet. I wanted a high quality, perfectly tailored, work-appropriate (but still pretty) dress, and that’s exactly what I got. This is by far my favorite dress I own. I already have about 6 other outfits planned around it! Thank you so much to Piol for my incredible dress. I will definitely be back for another!
