Espadrilles are my favorite shoes for transitioning into warm weather. They look and feel spring/summery, but they still offer the coverage you need before it’s full-fledged sandal season. They are also the perfect shoe to wear before you get your feet in shape for sandals! 😉 (Side note: I did one of those foot peel things 2 weeks ago, and my feet WILL. NOT. STOP. PEELING. I’m never going to be able to wear sandals… #espadrilles4lyfe).
I also love espadrilles because they are usually so comfortable! It’s like the comfort of a sneaker with a much cuter look. I tend to stick with plain, neutral colors to keep them from looking too casual, but there are some really fun ones out there that would be perfect to wear to the beach or something.
After much debate- and a poll of the audience on my IG stories– I ended up buying this pair during a Shopbop sale, and I’m so glad I did. After reading reviews, I bought a full size larger than my regular size, and they fit perfectly. They were so comfortable right out of the box. I have been wearing them nonstop…and I think I might want them in black, too!
Up until the last two months or so, I was totally in denial that cute workout clothes were really that much of a necessity. When I went to the gym, I would wear baggy sweatpants and an old college t-shirt, or leggings and one of those giant t-shirts they hand out at sporting events. I was (and to some extent, still am) uncomfortable in the gym because I certainly don’t look like I belong there, so hiding under giant clothes was my way of trying to be invisible, I guess.
In August I started working out with a new trainer who always dresses in the coolest, trendiest workout clothes and has a sneaker collection that rivals my actual shoe collection. He’s also very muscley and intense, so imagine my surprise when we bonded over shoes of all things! The next thing I knew, he had convinced me to order rose gold Nikes. Then the craziest thing happened- that one pair of shoes had a transformative effect on me. It sounds so silly, but when I wore those Nikes, I felt like a bad ass. Forget the gym- I felt like I belonged in a Nike catalog! Then I picked out another pair of Nikes I wanted for Christmas. Then I found these marble workout pants and knew I had to have them. I also got this coral and rose gold sweatshirt.
Now, I’m a firm believer that cute workout clothes will actually help motivate me to work out. Getting dressed is half the battle, right?
The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is here!!! Early access started today, which means Nordstrom cardholders can start shopping the sale right now. The sale opens up to the general public on July 22. If you’re not a cardholder but you want to sign up and get early access, you can sign up for either the Nordstrom credit card or the Nordstrom debit card over on their website. I love mine…maybe a little too much…
What I love about the Anniversary Sale is that you get a chance to buy brand new styles (lots of things for fall) at a discounted price. So it’s not like clearance where the items are out of season and have been marked down. These are brand new items that are temporarily marked down just for the Anniversary Sale!
I think the shoes are probably the thing I look forward to the most with this sale…they always have so many great styles of boots, which totally puts me in the mood for fall.
If you’re new to Nordstrom, they offer free shipping and free returns, and they have the best customer service in the entire world. (True story: the strap on my Hunter rain boots broke after I had them for a year. I bought them at Nordstrom, so I reached out to their customer service to see if there was any way I could have them repaired. Instead, they sent me a BRAND NEW pair of boots to replace my YEAR OLD boots… Mind. Blown.)
Stay tuned for my favorites from all the other sale categories!
